How it works:
There are a limited number of seats that will be split into two groups. All seats for the February 13, 2023 class have been filled. Apply today for the second group starting the course March 27, 2023.
Applications opened October 17, 2022 and will close March 20, 2023, or until all seats have been filled.
Complete the online curriculum in 8 months part-time or finish faster if you’re able to dedicate more time.
You’ll have weekly 1-on-1 meetings with your expert mentor and optional live group sessions during the course.
Work 1-on-1 with your career coach for 6 months after graduating to land your new data analytics role.

What you’ll learn

Foundations: Mathematics and data basics

Refresh your basic mathematical skills to start the course before moving on to visualizing data using multiple chart formats and finish with an introduction to the logical thinking frameworks analysts use to approach problems.

  • Basic to intermediate visualizations using charts
Framing Structured Thinking

All data analysis starts with a question. But how does one ask the right question? Learn to think in a structured manner and break down problems into bite-sized chunks which can be tested. This will guide your analysis and prevent you from analyzing data for the sake of analysis.

  • Structured thinking and problem statements
  • Problem solving frameworks and processes
  • Issue trees, hypotheses trees, and value driver trees
Analyzing Business Problems

As a data analyst, your analyses will require a central theme and tangible business insights you can communicate to executives. In this unit, you’ll be introduced to common economic and financial concepts and use Microsoft Excel to build your first financial model. You’ll also be introduced to key statistical concepts used to measure performance.

  • Financial concepts including revenue, operating expenses, EBIT Analysis
  • Economic concepts including supply and demand curves, calculation of product elasticities
  • Create a default financial analysis model using Excel
  • Statistical concepts include descriptive statistics and inferential statistics
Connecting data using SQL

Navigating extensive sets of data to answer the burning questions of executives will be crucial to your career success. In this unit, you’ll learn what databases are, which ones to use in your analyses, and how to communicate with them to get the information you need efficiently.

  • Introduction to advanced SQL and best practices in writing queries
  • Report on business analyses using SQL reporting capabilities
  • Introduction to Relational Databases
Visualizing data with Python

The ability to conduct data analysis in Python will set you apart in the job market. In this unit, you’ll learn the basics of Python and key Python libraries, including pandas, numpy, matplotlib, seaborn, and more. You’ll then use real data to perform your own importing, wrangling and extraction of insights that could be presented to an executive.

  • Basic Python syntax
  • Introduction to Jupyter and Jupyter Notebooks
  • Introduction to Tabulated Data Analysis with Pandas
  • Visualizing data and trends with Seaborn and Matplotlib
  • Applications of Statistical Analysis and Outlier Detection with Python

Communicating your Analysis

Data analysts need to be adept at presenting the results of their analysis to the appropriate stakeholders. This is a high-demand skill that separates effective business-oriented data analysts from the rest. This unit covers best practices for presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBi
  • Creating custom presentations via PowerPoint / Tableau
  • Effective communication strategies, formats, and templates
  • Presentation philosophies for different stakeholder groups
  • Presentation practice across different forms

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Amazon employees are eligible?

The program is available to full-time and part-time hourly employees that have been with Amazon for at least 90 days. You must be actively employed to receive annual education funds.

Program access is restricted to employees in certain regions: Columbus, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, SF Bay Area, St. Louis, and Tampa.

How does tuition reimbursement work?

The entire reimbursement process will occur within your Amazon Career Choice portal.

The full course tuition is covered by Amazon for full-time employees. There will be no cost to full-time employees.

Part-time employees will have half of the tuition covered by Amazon and will be required to pay the remainder.

Those with other payment amounts can choose to apply their remaining Amazon budget to the program cost, and pay the remainder.

Are there any prerequisites for this course?

This course does not require any previous data analytics experience.

Students must be 18 years of age or older and have a strong proficiency in English.

Students are required to have received a high school diploma or passed the general educational development (GED) diploma test or any other high school graduate equivalency examination.

Can I choose my start date?

All seats for the February 13, 2023 start date have now been filled. Please select March 27, 2023 as your preferred start date.

Seats are filled on a first come, first serve basis for qualified applicants. Apply today! There will be no further classes this year.

How do I enroll?

There are four steps to enrolling in the program:

  1. Start by submitting an application to the Career Program
  2. Complete the technical skills survey emailed to you
  3. If accepted, you will book a call with the Springboard admissions team to discuss your goals for the program and preferred start date.
  4. An enrollment link will be emailed to you from Springboard, where you can sign up and create your course profile
