We’re excited to announce that Springboard has received official approval from the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE).

Springboard is headquartered in San Francisco, so it was very important to us to work closely with the BPPE, which regulates all higher education institutions in the state of California. Approval from the BPPE is required for an ed-tech company like Springboard to operate in the state. It’s also a testament to the achievements of our students, instructors, and mentors, and the quality of our flexible, fully remote education model that prepares students for a rewarding career in the technology industry.

Why is BPPE approval in California important?

Regulatory approval is an important precedent for better student protection and increasing access to education. Career-focused education models that invest in students upfront and equip them with job readiness skills upend systemic barriers to education access while paving the way for a higher-skilled workforce.

While the BPPE does not provide accreditation, the Bureau’s approval represents a seal of quality for Springboard students. It signifies that an institution is in compliance with state standards as set forth in the Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009, which was passed to prevent so-called “diploma mills” from defrauding students, and affords students the same consumer protections that have become standard in many other industries.

How does BBPE approval impact Springboard’s current and future students?

While Springboard is required to report certain key outcomes to the BPPE, this endorsement does not change the student experience, nor does it affect our financing options.

Students residing in California can continue to benefit from our deferred tuition and job guarantee. Students have the option of paying a number of different ways:

  • Upfront (for a discount of up to 18%)
  • Month-to-month
  • Deferred tuition payment plan

Our job guarantee remains the same: if you don’t land a job within six months of graduating from Springboard, you receive a full tuition refund.

Most Springboard students study part-time while holding down a job; many have decided to take a leap of faith to pursue their dream career. Investing in your education is more than just monetary; you’re sinking your time, energy, and faith in securing a better life outcome. It’s important to us that you feel emboldened, empowered, and ready to take on new challenges.
