Financial analyst. I was interested in predictive analytics.
I liked the flexibility to do the coursework when it fit in my schedule and I prefer the one-on-one mentoring to a classroom setting.
It was great! I learned a lot and really enjoyed doing the capstone projects. I wouldn't be where I am today without Springboard. My review of this program was so good that my manager is actually enrolled now!
The steep learning curve was a challenge. I had been working in finance for two years, so my programming and stats knowledge needed a lot of refreshing.
One was trying to predict whether a racetrack incident was doping-related and the other was a clustering project to see if I could identify trends in recipes: https://github.com/isabelvanzijl
Currently a data analyst at a startup with upcoming opportunities to do more data science work!
You have to be very self disciplined and actually put the work in every week. Also, I would recommend getting an internship at the same time. I had a data science internship during part of my course and I think it really added to my resume/experience.
