What you'll learn in this cybersecurity bootcamp

This part-time, 380-hour bootcamp covers cybersecurity fundamentals, systems and network security, vulnerability assessment, and security operations. By studying 15-20 hours per week, you should complete it in 6 months. Our flexible learning structure allows students to finish earlier if they're able to allocate more time each week.

Unit 1: Cybersecurity Fundamentals
Unit 2: IT Project Management
Unit 3: Host-based Security
Unit 4: Network Security
Unit 5: Identity & Access Management
Unit 6: Security Assessment & Operations
Unit 7: Application Security
Unit 8: Security+ Exam Prep

This unit sets the foundation for your success. We begin with the basics where you’ll learn key vocabulary, tools and roles within an organization. As you progress from basics to fundamentals, you’ll be introduced to common IT security threats and mitigation techniques with multiple mini-projects.

Topics include:

  • Vocabulary / acronyms
  • Threat actor types and attributes
  • Three-legged stool technique (CIA)
  • Red- vs. blue-team
  • Threat-modeling

Organization is key to individual and organizational success in cybersecurity. This unit provides you with IT project management templates as well as multiple mini-projects to implement your new project management skills.

Topics include:

  • Principles and practices of IT project planning
  • Creating your own project plan

Securing workstations and servers is a critical responsibility of a Cybersecurity Analyst. This unit focuses on the defenses you can put in place prior to an attack via multiple hands-on labs including: implementing security policies on Windows and Linux; network management; patching and securing systems; and configuring anti-virus.

Topics include:

  • Operating system hardening
  • System patching
  • Securing computer hardware and peripherals

Securing computer networks, devices and user data, requires cybersecurity professionals to utilize both hardware and software defenses. This unit will take a deep dive into network architecture and security scanning before students apply their knowledge to eight hands-on labs and two mini-projects.

Topics include:

  • Network design and attacks
  • Cloud security and server defense
  • Securing wired and wireless networks
  • Firewalls and IDS/IPS

Managing user identities and their access permissions through authentication is essential as organizations continue to require remote access capabilities. This unit includes labs and mini-projects focused on creating and securing user accounts as well as remote and local exploitation of a user’s computer.

Topics include:

  • Authentication models and components
  • Access control models
  • Rights, permissions, and policies

This extensive unit covers security assessment, testing, and operations. Explore penetration testing, advanced web security practices and create test plans during the assessment and testing section. In addition, you’ll gain red-team experience cracking passwords, exploiting a vulnerable web application, and attacking web servers.

As you progress to the security operations section, you’ll learn blue-team encryptions, response workflows, and use current industry tools such as Splunk and Wireshark to combat attacks.

Topics include:

  • Conduction risk assessments and audits of controls
  • Assessing vulnerabilities and remediation
  • Encryption and hashing concepts
  • Disaster recovery planning and procedures
  • Programming primer

The rapid evolution of software capability and increased profitability has created a focus on functionality rather than security. This unit covers the essential, but often overlooked requirement to intertwine cybersecurity defenses into the development of new software applications.

Topics include:

  • Software development lifecycle
  • Secure software development practices
  • Web security
  • Database security

The goal of this unit is to prepare you for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. The CompTIA Security+ Certification is the globally recognized standard for evaluating fundamental cybersecurity skills. Here, you’ll get a refresher on key topics, sit mock exams, and receive a voucher to cover the entire cost of the certification before taking the exam with confidence.

Topics include:

  • Exam topics refresh and review
  • Mock exams

I had someone to reach out to if I ever got stuck. Whenever I had questions, I would just email my mentor and it never took him that long to respond back. Then, during our weekly mentor calls, he would walk me through other resources I could use to help me out.

I chose Springboard because of the flexibility that it offered. I think a lot of programs are very rigorous and you have to attend classes at a certain time; for me, that just wasn't an option. Also, I have several friends who have been through the program and just loved it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this course conducted online or in person?

The course is completely online. All you need is an internet connection.

How long does this course take?

Becoming a cybersecurity professional takes time and effort. We've built a curriculum to teach you what you should know to land a job. The course length will vary for each student since the course is entirely self-paced. We expect most students will finish the course in 6 months working at ~15-20 hours per week.

How do the tuition payments work?

There are 4 payment options (all of which come with our job guarantee as long as you meet eligibility requirements). Our two standard payment plans are:

  • Upfront payment: You pay $9,900 upfront for 6 months. This is a 13% discount on the monthly plan.
  • Monthly Plan: You pay $1,890 per month, only for the months you're enrolled (most students complete within 6 months).

In addition, we have 2 other payment options. These are available by application to qualifying US citizens and permanent residents. If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, you can still apply for Climb financing with a fully qualifying co-borrower who is a citizen or permanent resident - as long as you both have a US address. Deferred tuition is only available to US Citizens and permanent residents.

  • Deferred Tuition: You pay a $700 deposit upon enrollment to confirm your seat. Then, you’ll pay the remaining tuition ($19,961) only when you land a job using your newly learned skills. You can pay that final balance in 36 monthly installments of $388. you’ll then pay the remaining tuition only when you land a job using your newly learned skills. The remaining tuition will be waived if you don’t get a job, and maintain eligibility, within six months of graduating!
  • Climb Credit loan: Available by application to qualifying US citizens and permanent residents. If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, you can still apply for financing with a fully qualifying co-borrower who is a citizen or permanent resident - as long as you both have a US address.
    • If approved, you pay a deposit to confirm your seat, then finance the remaining tuition through a loan. You’ll make small interest-only payments for the first 6 months. After that, you will pay 36 monthly payments of $358- $430 each.
    • Due to regulatory issues, Climb Credit can no longer fund loans for Maine residents. If you live in Maine, you can still be approved if you apply with someone from any other U.S. state.
    • Please note: lending might not be available in all 50 states - click here for the current full lending list.

All charges will be in USD (based on the above prices). If you reside outside the U.S., this might carry an additional transaction fee, depending on the bank you use. We display prices in your local currency to give you an estimate of how much you will pay based on prevailing exchange rates, excluding transaction fees.

I need help with payments. Do you offer financing?

Yes! Finance your tuition with a loan from our partner Climb Credit. If approved, you can start by paying as little as $59 - $181 per month. Learn more.

We do also have a Deferred Tuition payment plan through Ascent. With this payment plan, you can pay an initial upfront deposit ($700) and then not pay anything else until you land a new job. Your tuition will be broken up into payments of $388/month over 36 months.
